The Background
Three years ago, “we” designed our deck.
I wanted a screened-in porch.
#DIYDave wanted a pergola.
Given the cost of a porch, it was a no brainer.
The Design
Don’t laugh.
Well, I would if I were you.

Seriously – this is the picture I handed to Dave just a couple of weeks ago.
“Jessica, it looks like one of the kids drew it”
Yep
The Process
- Step 1: Measure (see above)
- Step 2: Determine materials (see above)
- Step 3: Try to figure out how long it is going to take to complete this project.
- Step 4: Figure it out as you go. Seriously, he did not have a concrete plan before starting.
- Step 5: Adjust as needed
- Step 6: Take longer to complete than anticipated
- Step 7: Enjoy outdoor movie night as a family

The Final Product & Takeaways

I love my husband
He goes above and beyond for our family
The man’s commute sucks. 2.5 in the car 4 days a week (sometimes Friday as well)
He coaches practice Monday – Thursday, in addition to games on the weekends
He’s everything a partner should be and more
And
Cushions are EXPENSIVE!
Stay tuned for “our” next project: Chicken Coop & Run!
