What Happened to MY Office?

My Office

I ask myself this question on the daily.

When we made the decision to build our home it was a priority for me to have an actual office to work in.

Not a couch, or on a bed, or at the kitchen table, or in a pantry. Yes, a pantry.

True story – when we lived in Virginia Beach, my office was located inside our pantry. Can’t make it up.

Yup. A Pantry Office.

MY New Home Office

Focus in on the library

The excitement.

My own space to work.

To read, to relax, to close out the noise from the rest of my home.

192sqft ALL TO MYSELF

Little did I know that come March 2020 I would have to share MY space with three additional humans and eventually our two rescue dogs.

The Pandemic, The Never-Ending Pandemic

From March 2020-June of 2021 my daughter sat next to me in MY office 5 days a week.

She was nothing less than a rockstar during this time. Well, the last part of kindergarten was dreadful, but first grade was magical. Except for the lack of independent reading. I won’t go off on that tangent in his post.

From March 2020-May of 2021 my husband sat next to me in MY office 5 days a week.

See at the time, #DIYDave was a full-time student at Georgetown. Mr. MBA stopped attending classes on campus at the same time basically every other university shutdown in person lectures. So, there he was, occupying the seat next to me and building whatever Pinterest idea I stumbled upon in between classes and presentations.

And then there was Bobby. On any given day, he plopped his butt in either Dave’s spot or mine and built endless LEGO creations.

We were all home. We were all in MY office.

Little did I know that MY office would become one of our favorite places to spend time together as a family.

So, What Happened to MY Office?

It became a place of work and school

It became a place to relax

It became a place to watch movies, snuggle and read

It became a place to lay with our dogs when they were sick or injured

It became a place to house me and Kinsley (and both dogs) when we had COVID

It became a place where my kids played while I worked

It became a place for everyone to escape to

It became a place of countless memories

It became OUR office. OUR space. One of OUR favorite places to be together.
