Who is Sarah Howe?
As her blog indicates, she’s s dietician by day and blogger by night.
I came across Sarah’s blog (Run Jump Scrap) via Twitter – one of the best sources of networking for bloggers, IMO.
She’s also a mom of three and I love connecting with other moms who are passionate about health and fitness.
Her most recent fitness post is about getting back into running after children and meniscal surgery (Yours truly also underwent this surgery in 2019).
So, What has Sarah Learned at this Stage in her Running Journey?
Well, I’m not going to give away all of her secrets, but I will share a few that really stuck out to me.
- “My pelvic floor is not what it used to be” – preach lady! As someone who experienced major issues, that didn’t develop until a year after my second child, I am all about Pelvic Floor Therapy. In fact, this is what my next blog post will be about. Until then, a great resource is my friend Dr. Carrie. Thank you, Sarah, for mentioning Pelvic floor in your post! This topic is very close to my heart.
- “You can’t use the same running trainers you have had for 5 years.” – This made me laugh because I’m guiltyAF in this department. It took me WAY TOO LONG to part with my Nike Trail Runners. When I finally decided to purchase a new pair my knees said, “thank you Jesus!” I think most amateur runners are guilty of not buying new shoes in a timely manner.
- “I need to keep doing leg strengthening exercises.” – This took me YEARS to realize. I am a much better athlete, and runner now, because of strength training.
